We called these machines Water Ionizers, which is how many people refer to them. They have been called microwater machines, restructured water machines, etc. In fact they are electrolysis machines, with a pre-filter. Most importantly, what they produce is antioxidant water, so we prefer to call them antioxidant water fountains. And by the way, they also produce an oxidized (acidic) water, which is good as a mild astringent.

We are strongly devoted to the belief that these machines represent the water treatment of the future. The most serious issue in water treatment is the oxidation of the water, which is not altered by filtration alone. The antioxidant water maker creates an alkaline water for drinking, and long it was thought that the secret for its benefits lay in the alkalinity.

Research of the last few years however has shown that the alkalinity of the water is a side issue, and the outstanding feature, which seems to be responsible for the benefits people experience, rests on the fact that this water behaves like an antioxidant, scavenging active oxygen compounds (including free radicals) from the system. i.e. it prevents oxidation of healthy cells by active oxygen, by bonding with such active oxygen.

Healthy cells are often attacked by destructive active oxygen compounds, including free radicals. When unstable oxygen bonds with a cell, the cell becomes oxidized, no different from a nail that rusts.

Helpful substances, or antioxidants protect cells from free radicals. Recent research has documented that in the cathodic water from electrolysis Dissolved Hydrogen occurs, which is nature's perfect antioxidant. It would naturally bond with any free oxygen, and thus protect cells from damage.

This is our standard high efficiency filter cartridge, with 1 micron mechanical filtration (for removal of sediment, parasites), and 2 stage granular activated carbon filtration, for removal of chlorine and chemical contaminants. The last stage is silver impregnated to prevent bacterial growth in the filter. The cartridge is rated for 1000 gallons under normal conditions.

Note that in areas of heavy sediment, the very fine mechanical filter can become clogged up, so that you would have to replace the filter sooner than 1000 gallons. The only other way to address this issue is by using the ceramic pre-filter.

Note: Please pay attention to the water conditions that are required: a "normal" city drinking water with a reasonable level of dissolved solids (TDS). Very simply, pure H₂O does not support electrolysis. Electrolytes are needed for the functioning of the electrolysis process.

We feel however that you should consider that those forms of water treatment not only rob your body of valuable electrolytes, they do not solve the oxidation problem, so you are continuing to drink oxidized water (high ORP), instead of antioxidant water from electrolysis!

Note 2: The calcium chamber of the filter is inherited from regulations by the Japanese Health ministry, because it was once believed that the mineral content of the water was the crucial health benefit. We now know that it is in fact the antioxidant properties of the water which are the great value of this technology. In general American water contains more calcium than Japanese water, so adding more calcium is unnecessary in every respect.
