Let's look at a few important
points about magnet therapy. Magnets should only be used
when a diagnosis has been made to identify the pain. Remember, pain is a warning signal that must be respected. Do
not try to treat your own chronic painful condition without
having first consulted a qualified health practitioner. Magnets
should not be used when the cause of pain is uncertain. Also
magnets should not be used to replace medications that may
be more appropriate or even necessary. In other words, think
of magnets as highly useful products that enable people to
reduce drug treatment, thus minimizing unwelcome side-effects.
In the book "Magnet Therapy", by
Ron Lawrence, M.D., PH.D. he states: In view of his experience
and clinical observations of many practitioners who followed
up on this, he learned that wearing a magnet around the wrist
area will help prevent the onset of carpal tunnel syndrome
in those who are susceptible (those with repeated use of
the wrist). In other words, the magnet is an important aid
for prevention. However, Dr. Lawrence found that magnets
are not that helpful when a person has advanced or severe
carpal tunnel syndrome. Wearing a magnet at the wrist area
is worthwhile as a preventive, as it is both inexpensive
and safe. |
